MAURO MAUGLIANI
Born in 1967 in Tivoli, Italy, Mauro Maugliani graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome in 1991. He began his career in figurative painting, with a strong conceptual bent, devoid of any formal descriptive style. The soul is at the heart of his artistic expression, shaping surfaces and interacting with space to represent the multiplicity and complexity of human relationships.
His artistic language is inspired by the metabolism of human relationships, the inability to communicate, human isolation and alienation. His anti-portraits capture the loss of the individual in his daily existence, where skin becomes a diary that bears witness to the stories of his anti-heroes. Humanity and its cynical individualism are reflected in the matrix of social change, symbolized by the tattooed barcodes present in his works, representing a mental probate.
Since 2000, Mauro Maugliani has been active on the contemporary scene, with solo exhibitions including “Face off” at Galerie Romberg in Latina in 2011 and “Reale per Eccelenza” at Galerie Spazio Officina in 2009.
Mauro Maugliani has also taken part in collective projects such as “Atollo” at the Palazzo Collicola Arti Visive Museum in Spoleto, ‘Trialogo’ at the Galleria l'Opera in Rome and “Look at me” at the Pinacoteca in Gaeta. In 2014, the Michetti Foundation acquired his work “Eclissi” for the museum of the same name. In 2015, Mauro Maugliani took part in the collective project “Close up” at the Palazzo Collicola Arti Visive Museum and presented solo exhibitions such as ‘Versus’ at the Suppan Contemporary Gallery in Vienna, “Ego te Absolvo” at the Pinacoteca di Gaeta and “Ordinary People” at the Galerie des Bains Douches in Antibes.
