ELLA BATS

Ella Bats is a French photographic artist based in Paris, who graduated in art and graphic design from ENSAAMA. She then joined the Gobelins School of the Image, specializing in photography until 2017.

In her work, there is a remarkable closeness between painting and texture, which she transcribes through art, fashion and portraiture. Ella Bats is passionate about the medium of digital photography and skilfully exploits the capabilities of retouching by using superimpositions, multiplications and fusions of different layers. Her aim is to question the links between the inner world of the individual and the way it is represented in her art. To achieve this, she establishes an intimate dialogue with her models, seeking to bring out their humanity in a singular way. In this way, photography becomes for her both a means of representing a world and an attempt to understand others.

Ella Bats' work has been exhibited in a number of prestigious venues, including the Samaritaine (2022/2023), the MAP Festival (2022), the Tranoï showroom at the Palais Brongniart (2022), the Villa Noailles festival in Hyères (2021), Galerie Madé (2021), Designer Tom Faulkner's London showroom (2021), the Paul Smith Albemarle Street space in London (2021), the Fashion for Sidaction photo sale (2021), the Rencontres photographiques du 10ème festival (2019), the PH21 gallery in Budapest (2017), the Promenades photographiques de Vendôme with the Mark Grosset prize (2016), the Terroirs de France and Jeune Photographie exhibition in Berlin, Yokohama and Moscow (2016), and she has even been selected as one of the finalists for the Prix Picto de la Photographie de Mode in 2021.
