PIERRE ANTOINE MENARD (API)
Pierre-Antoine Menard (API) combines various techniques acquired over time and through practice to question us about the truth and poetry found in reality.
Layers, a chaos of colors, a pictorial outcry. Accident is part of the process. He goes over, tears away, strips it bare.
It is indeed layer after layer that he reveals secrets, truths, which we only become aware of after truly looking, perhaps even after getting lost in the meanderings of his painting. Through his work, we embark on a journey into our own questioning, the conscious, unconscious, and subconscious parts that make each of us unique. He plays with a multitude of symbols, exploring the history of art and humanity, patterns that transcend eras, pure abstraction, and then those suffocating crowds of figures.
He enjoys imagining the viewer with the eyes of a child, entering the layers of paint like stepping into the ruins of an imaginary world, making it their own, to play there alone or with others, for a minute or for hours.
